Jeff and Katy were both born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia. Growing up in a small town, they attended many of the same schools, though they did not attend them at the same time due to difference in age. Katy first heard the name Jeff Will when she was in 6th grade when her oldest brother, Drew, started to hang out in the Will basement. At the time Katy had a schoolgirl crush on Jeff and tried to tag along with Drew to hang out in the Will basement as much as possible.
The years after Jeff graduated from high school the two didn’t see each other very often. Jeff stayed in Williamsburg for a couple years, before heading off to Ohio. Katy completed high school and went to college in Richmond, Virginia where her brother, Drew, was living. It was during Katy’s sophomore year at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) that the two reconnected. Jeff had taken some time off from his life in Ohio to figure out where to go to college and was hanging out with Drew in Richmond often. After Katy failed to convince Jeff to attend VCU, he returned to Ohio to attend the University of Cincinnati (UC). Jeff and Katy stayed in close contact via e–mail and by that spring Jeff had convinced Katy to get a job with Katy’s cousin, Dave. Dave owned a company that Jeff had been working for, which involved traveling to malls all over the country promoting children’s trading card games. The bonus was that Jeff and Katy were able to see each other every weekend even though they lived in different parts of the country. Their romance developed and by Christmas of Katy’s junior year of college the two were an official couple.
Katy lived with Jeff during summers when he interned in New York City. She also lived with him for a short time in Cincinnati after graduating from Lebanon Valley College before starting her teaching career in Fairfax County, Virginia. Jeff followed Katy to the Washington D.C. area after he graduated from UC. The couple lived in Arlington, VA for two years during which time they were engaged.
Jeff and Katy currently live in Jacksonville, Florida with their dog, Minty. Katy teaches 2nd grade and Jeff is an interactive designer for a small digital creative agency started by his friend and former Interactive Director, Shane.
Jeff met Shane when working for him at GMMB while Jeff and Katy were living in the Washington D.C. area. Shane quickly became more than a boss as Jeff and him became close friends. This friendship lead to Jeff and Katy following Shane and Amy to Jacksonville, Florida when Shane started his own company, SBS Studios. Since moving to Florida the four of them have become closer yet. Shane and Amy have adopted Katy and Jeff into their friendship circle and have made Florida feel like home for them!
Mel and Katy met while studying to become teachers at Lebanon Valley College (LVC). They were lucky enough to live in the same dorms every year and chose to live together during their student teaching. Close living arrangements as well as similar interests and outlooks on life lead Mel and Katy to form a strong friendship. Mel also became close to Jeff during his visits to LVC to see Katy when he affectionately dubbed Mel, “Lord Melvin.” Mel starting dating Brian during her senior year at LVC and the four of them grew very close. After graduation, although their lives took them in different directions, they have made an effort to keep in touch and visit each other often. Jeff and Katy attended Mel and Brian’s destination wedding this summer in the Dominican Republic.
Emily and Katy have been very close friends since 3rd grade. Growing up together and sharing life experiences has created a strong bond between the two of them. Although college took them to different places they stayed in close contact and visited each other often. After college they ended up back in the same area when Katy was teaching for Fairfax County as Emily works for admissions at George Mason while going to school for her Masters of Education in Counseling.
Jeff and Eric have been friends from the dawn of time. No, seriously, dinosaurs roamed the Earth when they first met in elementary school. Eric now plays the accordion in an underground polka band by night while composing music and pursuing his doctorate at Columbia University by day.
